Ela's Bereavement Package
Two years ago many individuals and businesses supported Ela's Night of Angels - a fundraiser organized in memory of our daughter Ela who lost her fight to congenital heart disease. With an incredible response to our appeal and generous supporters we managed to beat our $15k goal and have raised over $24,000 for Paediatric ICU at Children's Hospital at Westmead. The funds went towards a purchase of a life-saving medical equipment - a surgical headlamp and a mobile ultrasound unit. These devices are now helping to save children's lives at PICU on a daily basis. On behalf of these kids and their families we are forever grateful for our supporters' generosity.
There are however still too many families having to cope with the loss of their precious children - an indescribably painful and sad experience which we went through ourselves when our Ela took her last breath on this very day 3 years ago. She was only 56 days old. That moment a new journey has began for us. Journey of parents without a living child. We had to learn how to live with the deepest pain in our hearts. Grief is a process, we learned to embrace it and accept that it will stay with as long as Ela's memory will - forever...
To assist other bereaved parents navigate through this painful experience we have put together Ela's Bereavement Package. It contains a guided journal to help organize thoughts and memories of their beloved child as well as few other items to let them retain the precious moments spent together.
Coping with grief is a highly individual process but it's always helpful to know you are not alone. The Bereavement Package is a small part of the puzzle that can make a huge difference for bereaved parents and let them know they are not alone and their children will be remembered.
